About the Artist
Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868–1928) was a Scottish architect, designer, and artist, celebrated as a leading figure in the Arts and Crafts movement and a pioneer of modern design. Born in Glasgow, Mackintosh developed a distinctive style that blended traditional Scottish forms with Japanese simplicity and the flowing lines of Art Nouveau.
Mackintosh turned to textile design in his later years, after architectural work dwindled following World War I. Working from his Chelsea studios, he produced abstracted repeat patterns drawn from his intimate knowledge of the natural world. Cyclamen is one of these designs—a stylized floral repeat that also appears as the backdrop in Mackintosh's watercolor painting of the same name, painted around 1922–23.
About This Pillow
This pillow features Mackintosh's Cyclamen design, a delicate botanical pattern rendered in his signature abstracted style. The artwork reflects his lifelong fascination with plant forms and geometric elegance. Printed on soft, durable cotton, it brings a piece of Glasgow School artistry to your space.
