About the Designer
Lewis F. Day (1845–1910) was a leading British designer of the Arts and Crafts movement, known for his work in textiles, wallpapers, and stained glass. A founding member of the Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society, he designed extensively for manufacturers like Jeffrey & Co. His Apple Blossom pattern, created in 1874 for W.B. Simpson, exemplifies the movement's love of nature and traditional craftsmanship—an all-over design of apple blossom branches on a dark ground.
