Furuya Kōrin (1875–1910) was a Japanese artist and designer active in Kyoto during the Meiji period. A student of Kamisaka Sekka, he was heavily influenced by the Rinpa school of painting and adopted the name Kōrin in homage to Ogata Kōrin (1658–1716), referring to himself as "Kōrin of the modern age." His 1904 publication Shima-Shima (meaning "Stripes") is a two-volume collection of color woodblock textile motifs, created for the Kyoto kimono trade. The albums gathered classical and modern stripe and plaid combinations as working references for Nishijin weavers and kimono designers, published by Unsōdō.

This pillow features a green-toned design from Shima-Shima, first published in 1904. The geometric pattern reflects Kōrin's masterful combination of traditional Japanese stripe motifs with the era's cross-cultural design influences. Printed on soft, durable cotton, it brings a piece of Meiji-era artistry to your space.
